Rules

Captain Duties:

  • All league business will be conducted through Team Captains. Conflict of issues not clearly stated in rules will be discussed among the commissioner and Team Captains.
  • Fill out the score sheet 10 minutes prior to the start of the game. Both name and number.
  • Collect team Registration money to commissioner and also Referee fees PRIOR  to game
  • Make sure all players are on roster prior to playoffs – All players need to be registered on the website
  • Ensure all players have a uniform

Official Duties:

  • The officials shall conduct the game in accordance with the official rules and interpretations and employ the mechanics of officiating outlined in the LVWBL rules.
  • Arrive to games at least 10 min prior to game time
  • Speak with Captains prior to game time in regards to conduct and rules.
  • Coordinate with commissioner in regards to misconduct by players, coaches or fans.

Commissioner Duties:

  • Schedule all games and referees
  • Coordinate with Team Captains in regards to League conflicts
  • Maintenance websites
  • Communication and promotion of league to new players

Playoffs:

  • Clock will stop at 2:00 minutes for every dead ball or per referee’s discretion no matter the margin. Clock will stop on every made basket under1:00 if the point margin is under 5 points.
  • Each team has 4 (30 second) timeouts – 2 per half and they do not carry over.
  • Overtime each team is given ONE timeout.
  • Players will foul out after they have assessed their sixth (6th) foul. Unsportsmanlike technical fouls are counted as a personal foul.
  • The bonus is after 7th foul; double bonus after 10.

Mercy Rule:

  • Games with a 20 point margin in the last 2  minutes of the second half will be called, and the team with the lead will be awarded the win.
  • If there is a 50 point margin, the losing team will be asked if they want to continue with the game. Only on losing team’s discretion will the game be called.

Overtime:

  • Overtime is 2 minutes. The 2nd overtime will be 1 minute. Third overtime is sudden death.

Forfeits:

  • Game time is FORFEIT time. Team must have four players on the floor and ready to play at the scheduled time. The late team is penalized one (1) point per minute
  • If the late team shows up within the ten minutes – game will be played; if the team does not arrive the game is declared a forfeit.
  • The forfeiting team is still required to pay the $25 fee. Next scheduled game they will be a forfeit
  • Teams can avoid the fee by notifying the League Commissioner 24 hrs in advance. Proper notification will result in only a loss.

Rosters:

  • Official roster prior to the first playoff game.
  • Each player must play at least one game to be eligible for playoffs.
  • Captains are responsible for notifying the Commissioner that they are adding players
  • Attempts to add players for playoffs will result in disqualification.

For Games:

  • Only if a team has four players (not three – this is a forfeit) the CAPTAIN can ask the opposing team if they can pick up a player eligible for that division. Only if the opposing team captain confirms it is okay, can the 1 (one) additional player help the team that is short players.

Unsportsmanlike Conduct and Procedures

  1. No player, coach and/or team attendant shall act in an unsportsmanlike manner while on or near the court
  2. Only coaches/captains are allowed to speak to the referees/scorekeepers. This includes asking for timeouts and the score. Comments or remarks made by an opposing team should be brought to the referee’s attention during a dead ball time out by the opposing team’s coach.
  3. Warning: For the first minor offense, a warning will be issued at the first dead ball.
  4. Penalty: For a second minor offense or a single serious offense, a technical will be issued. Profanity directed towards an opposing team is considered a major offense.
  5. For a third minor or second serious offense by the same individual, the offender is disqualified from further play, must immediately leave the building and is suspended for one game.
  6. If the disqualified person does not leave immediately, the team will forfeit the game.
  7. No fighting will be tolerated. Individuals will have a minimum one game suspension and may not return without the league director’s permission.
  8. There will be a league meeting to discuss any incident involving suspensions or actions that require police action.

Pick-Up and New Players

  1. For Games:Teams are allowed to pick up 1 player for league play (not playoffs) and must have the permission of the opposing team’s captain. Only if a team has four players (not three – three is a forfeit) the CAPTAIN can ask the opposing team if they can pick up a player eligible for that division. Only if the opposing team captain confirms it is okay, they can add the 1 (one) additional player help the team that is short players.
  2. Coaches need to inform the commissioner, at the start of the game that they have a pick-up player on their team and they have permission from the opposing team’s captain. Team penalty for illegal players will be to forfeit that game.
  3. It is imperative that team captains inform the addition before play begins of any players added to the roster. This is extremely frowned upon and will result in a forfeit if not communicated.
